One day on our Scottish adventure we decided to get out of the Edinburgh and see more of the neighbouring region. We set our course towards North Berwick as it was on the coast and only a short train ride away. What we found was a very cozy and quiet town. It felt like we were the only tourists there when we were walking along the narrow streets and sandy beaches. I particularly loved the pastel houses and vibrant coloured doors. The people were friendly and seemed to be going about their everyday lives as you do on a ordinary Wednesday in the beginning of December.
We were really lucky with the weather as well. It didn’t rain until we were waiting for the train back to Edinburgh. Don’t let the blue skies on the images fool you though, it was super windy! Especially when we climbed up one hill to get a better view of the town. At some point I just sat down while Kea fearlessly moved around to get better images. I simply felt like I’d trip and fall right down into the ocean. The locals didn’t seem to have a problem with the wind either, the golf course was busy with players.
It would be interesting to visit the North Berwick during the summer months and see how the town changes when it’s warmer and probably full of tourists. Who knows, maybe on the next Scottish adventure.
